Edward Kroll Obituary

Kroll, Edward Walter
Beloved husband, father, son, and brother, died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at the age of 67. Edward shared a long, loving marriage with his wife, Mary, and was a devoted father to Kathy, Karyn, Doug, Greg and Cheryl. A native of Flint, Michigan, Edward and his family resided in Santa Monica, California while he built a long and distinguished career with the Automobile Club of Southern California, gaining particular renown for his astute litigation, mediation skill, and management style. Ed also served many years as a proud member of the U.S. Naval Reserve. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed working about the house, both in Santa Monica and his beloved getaway in the Palm Springs area. Edward enjoyed tinkering with and driving his vintage Detroit built chariots, whose appearance often elicited appreciative exclamations from his grandsons and other car enthusiasts. Edward will be missed by all who knew him well, and fondly remembered for his wry sense of humor, keen eye, prudent judgment, his dedication to the family, profound faith, commitment to quietly helping those in need, and his ability to consider seriously the larger questions in life without taking himself too seriously. Edward is survived by his wife, Mary, his sister, Marilyn Treadaway, and brother-in-law John, brother Gerry, brother Richard and sister-in-law Judy, daughter Kathy Hutchison, son-in-law Don, daughter Karyn Schmitz and son-in-law Mike, daughter Cheryl, son Doug and daughter-in-law Janice, son Greg and daughter-in-law Hazel, and by his grandchildren, Greg Schmitz, Patrick Hutchison, Kyle Hutchison, Andrew Hutchison, Matthew Kroll, Emma Kroll, Steven Kroll, and Sheridan Kroll.
