Eugene Bialek Obituary
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Sheila (Gordon), sons Steven (Robyn Feldmann), Michael, and daughter Nancy (Christopher Santas). He adored his four adult granddaughters, Lauren Bialek, Jenna Nabat, Gabrielle Santas and Alexandra Santas.
Born July 2, 1932, in Bronx, NY to Jack Bialek and Minnie (Weber), he was an only child. They moved to Southern California in 1933 and then to Boyle Heights in 1940, a thriving Jewish enclave in East Los Angeles. There he was surrounded by cousins and friends, and those close friendships lasted over seven decades.
Yiddish was his first language, and he reveled in finding others that spoke.
He spent over 65 years in retail wine and spirits, owning several stores.
Gene's humor was a defining trait. As a faithful reader of the LA Times Obituary section, when he didn't see his name in print, he'd share aloud "I didn't die today!" We'd always laugh.
May his memory be a blessing.
