Fran Ayres Obituary

October 7, 1942 - October 6, 2025 Fran Ayres passed away peacefully after a 2-year battle with ovarian cancer. She died without fear or pain with her two daughters by her side. Exactly the way she wanted. She is survived by her two daughters, Glynnis and Neile, daughter-in-law Miriam, granddaughter Alice, longtime companion Wayne, and her sweet dog Emma.
Frannie lived an extraordinary life raising 2 unruly teenage daughters on her own. She spent 35 years with the love of her life, Marx, and opened and ran a successful shop, New Stone Age, in West Hollywood for over 30 years. The shop brought such joy, as did everyone who worked there. They were her "shop family".
She was born and raised in LA with her sister Nancy by parents Toby and Sol. She was funny and creative and spent time after she closed her shop making jewelry, playing Mahjong, and searching for the best this or that.
Frannie's network of friends runs deep and she will be missed by many. She and Marx were deeply connected to the Southern California Library for Social Studies and Research. In lieu or flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation in her name to the library: https://www.socallib.org/
