Having known Gene since 1977 when I first met him at the publishing company in which I worked we became very firm friends due to our business interaction.
Not only was he a very knowledgable and well educated person he was one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever known.
My husband, Derek, also foudn Gene a super person and both of us will miss him.
His letters I shall keep and pass to my granddaughter who met him in April and I am just so glad that although it was sad
to see him in April this year for the very last time I am so glad that we did so. He will be sorely missed by so many.
Rest in Peace dear Gene.
Forever in our hearts.

Gene--A very special guy and friend of 35 years. You hold a very special place in my heart. Something will be missing from the world of antiques and beauty. I won't be able to see you and shake your hand, but I know you'll be close by.

I had known Gene for over 30 years.
I started buying prints from him a few years after I graduated from college. He was a patient and kind teacher. I learned a so much from him. I will miss him so much but every time I look at my beautiful antique prints I will remember all our wonderful conversations and his gentle nature. I will never forget him.

My Uncle Gene was simply THE BEST.

He was my Uncle, but more importantly, my friend.
Always quick to encourage, Gene had a depth of warmth and kindness to him that I never took for granted, but will miss beyond words.

He was a mentor, and a light in my world,

Sleep Sweetly Uncle Gene.
Ever in my heart,
Your Nephew Earl.

Dear Ms. Brinkley,
This past weekend I saw your brother passed away. I met Gene approximately 15 years ago when as a younger man I developed an interest in antique prints. Over the years, my wife and I purchased several pieces from him and get great enjoyment from them to this day. On several occasions I also contacted Gene to ask him questions about other items that I was interested in. Gene was always extremely kind to me, always willing to take the time to not only sell me an item, but to educate me. He had a very gentle and decent quality to him that is otherwise hard for me to explain. I wanted to express to you and your family my heart felt condolences and to let you know that I always felt better having seen Gene or spoken to him.
With Warmest Regards,
Thomas and Tracy Phillips
