Geoffrey Warren Obituary

August 8, 1921 - August 20, 2013 Born Robert Franklin Klein, in Spokane, WA, 92, son of Helmuth and Rose Klein, passed away in hospice care at Silverado Senior Living Beach Cities of natural causes. A longtime resident of Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills Estates, Geoffrey, his mother and sister, Myrtle (Hess, deceased), moved to Los Angeles in 1937. He attended LA High, graduated from the San Diego Army & Navy Academy, served in the Merchant Marine and briefly in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Dad's amazing intellectual curiosity and many talents led him through a variety of occupations: actor, writer, movie and theater critic for the Los Angeles Times in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and public relations. He graduated from Beverly College of Law and passed the State Bar exam in 1970, working in private practice for over 20 years. While he loved sailing and USC football, the true love of his life was his wife, Virginia (Gooley, deceased), who he met backstage at the Pasadena Playhouse (she was a student, he was an employee) and married in 1945. Survived by his daughters Patricia (Smith) and Barbara, his son Christopher, and son-in-law Steve Smith. His ashes will be scattered at sea. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
