George Minamiki Obituary
Rev. George H. Minamiki, S.J. unexpectedly expired on Friday, January 4, at age 82 while en route to LAX, after a family visit. Graduated from Loyola High School and summa cum laude from Loyola University in 1940, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1945, then worked as a missionary in Japan and the last 30 years as a professor of Japanese language and culture at the University of Notre Dame. A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated in the LMU Jesuit Chapel on Friday, January 11, and his remains will be interred in the crypt of St. Ignatius Church in Tokyo, Japan. He is survived by his sister (Umeko Mori) and two nephews (Alfred and Stephen Mori).
