Grace Robbins Obituary

April 7, 1932 - July 19, 2023 Born April 7, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Queens College and entered the world of TV advertising in NYC at Milton Biow, as an account executive at Parkson and as a casting director at Gray Advertising, where she met novelist, Harold Robbins. After a whirlwind romance they were married, building a villa in the South of France, where they welcomed their daughter.

In Cannes, France, she focused on charity work, forming a committee to raise funds for a local orphanage. With performances from Cyd Charisse, Tony Martin, Josephine Baker and many others, her galas were highly successful. Grace raised funds for The Thalians with Debbie Reynolds and Ruta Lee, and then also for the Princess Grace Foundation. She assisted Elizabeth Taylor and Bernardo Puccio at the first Los Angeles fundraiser for AIDS research.

In the mid-1980s Grace became a chanteuse, performing at her friend's restaurant, Verita's, which resulted in a regular following, and a command performance for Queen Elizabeth II in a tribute to Noel Coward. In 2013, she used her talent as a raconteur to pen a memoir, Cinderella and the Carpetbagger.

Grace was as a glamorous hostess, who lovingly entertained friends with her exuberance, joy and zest for life until her 91st birthday when she was diagnosed with cancer. She succumbed peacefully on July 19th at her daughter's home under hospice care. She is survived by her daughter, Adréana Robbins, her son-in-law, her beloved rescue pup and the many friends and neighbors whom she loved dearly as family.

In her memory, the family encourages those who are able, to contribute to her favorite charities: The Providence Trinity Care Hospice Foundation (give.providence.org/trinity 310-543-3440) and/or the Amanda Foundation Animal Rescue (amandafoundation.org).

Adrena, we didn´t know your mom, but in reading her obituary, she had a tremendous & fruitful life. We know it is sad to loose a love one, but looking at the bright side she is now with her Savior, no more pain or suffering.

Dear Adreana, Jeff, family and friends. I met Grace later in life through my dear departed wife Emma Jean (Jeannie) Brown, who worked for the Robbinses and played a memorable part in young Adreana's life. Many years later, reconnecting, the bond proved strong as ever. We had very pleasant dinners and conversations together, sharing warm memories and anecdotes. The last time I saw Grace was last January, when we had dinner at her place in Palm Springs. I also remember vividly sitting on the floor with Grace at Adreana's, giggling like little children. Although these were brief encounters, I shall cherish them always. And I can't seem to get Paul Simon's song out of my head: We're all going to Graceland. I imagine Jeannie and Grace sipping champagne together and giggling like little children.
Love always, Janne Buurman, Amsterdam.

I remember one stay I was walking down Santa Monica Blvd and I heard such a beautiful voice on an outside patio. It was one of a kind and I knew It was Grace Robbins out with the boys. She had style, panache, beauty, and like her namesake Grace. She was like the mother anyone would wish for no judgments at all and you could talk about anything with Grace. Grace was at my wedding and was truly a delight to everyone around her. I knew Grace for years and without her, I never would have met her beautiful daughter Adreana. I surely will miss you till we meet again. I truly can say she was one of a kind and I know why I love her daughter so much from the lessons truly learned from her mom. May the family be peaceful and think of all the wonderful times and how Grace truly touched all our lives. Love you forever Grace. Jeff and Adreana and so special to me and thanks for making your mom so a nice part of my life. Brian.

We were so blessed to know Grace in Palm Springs. We met her at the Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage and invited her over for dinner. We only loved her wonderful energy and love of her baby who she was getting ready to take on a cruise! Where ever her beautiful energy is now , she is sure to make a difference! Sending much love and condolences,
