Gregory Fountaine Obituary

Gregory "Greg" A. Fountaine

Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 6, 2012 at his home in Simi Valley, CA. Greg was born in Burbank, CA on November 23, 1955. He is preceded in death by his Father Colbert D. Fountaine.

Greg attended school at Bishop Alemany High School. As a young man he joined the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department and became a Sheriff Deputy where he served his community proudly.

Greg loved to coach kids sports, and was a huge football fan. His favorite teams were the USC Trojans, Colts and Broncos. Greg loved the outdoors and enjoyed RVing, bike riding near the beach, surfing, boating, fishing, swimming with his grandkids and daughter, playing darts and working on his hot rod. He was passionate about decorating his home for the holidays, especially Christmas, 4h of July and Halloween, his home was known by the neighborhood for his unique, over the top fun and festive decorations.

Greg was the world's greatest grandfather to Tatiana Perez, Makayl Mejia, Alannna Fountaine, and Robert Fountaine. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a caring father to Sebrina Fountaine, Rashell Fountaine, Samantha Fountaine and stepdaughter Christina Neff, whom meant the world to him. He was a loving husband to Cheryl, who was his best friend and soul mate. A devoted son to his mother Virginia Fountaine, whom he treasured more than anything. An outstanding brother to Sue Pelczar, Mike Fountaine and Michelle Fountaine. And a guiding father-in-law to Rafael Mejia, whom he considered to be the son that he never had.

Greg was a blessing to all that were lucky enough to have known him and is greatly missed by everyone, he meant the world to us.

So sorry to hear. I worked with Greg for several years at Malibu Station. We were actually on training together, working the coast. He was one of the best partners I ever had, and a joy to work with.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all of Greg's family and friends. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. I know the holiday's won't be the same in your neighborhood, the children will miss all his wonderful displays. Something to be said about a man who put so much work, creativity and love into making the holidays better for all those who had the pleasure to see his many talents. God Bless you Greg may you rest in our loving Father's arms forever in peace. Love Rob & Mel

I worked with Greg at the Sheriff Department. He was a sensitive person, that I could trust to dispatch to certain calls that other deputies wouldn't want to handle. He loved his cats and we used to talk about our animals when we went to breakfast after graveyard shift. He was a very caring man.

I am a Reserve Deputy. I have retired after 38 years of service, 5 years ago. During that time I was fortunate to have worked many shifts with Greg at the Lost Hill/Malibu Station. He was a very positive individual. I learned a lot from him. He was truly "one of the good guys".

I used to surf with Greg at Malibu in the eighties and nineties. He was a good and honest man who gave me wise advice in a stressful situation I had encountered. I'll not forget Greg.
