Helen Zimmelman Obituary

December 21, 1920 - May 2, 2021 Helen Zimmelman (nee Tyre), loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2021 at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 100. Helen grew up in Los Angeles, attending Los Angeles High and UCLA where she was president of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority. While at UCLA, Helen met Simon, the love of her life. They enjoyed golf, bowling, bridge, the Hollywood Bowl and travel. They were a loving, supportive and inspiring presence to their children and many extended family members. Helen was still in close contact with some of her dearest friends from early childhood.Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rebecca Tyre, her husband Simon, her sister Marian Josephson and too many of her dearest friends. She is survived by her two sons, Alan (and wife Marguerite) and Leonard (and husband Jerry), her younger sister Harriette (Levens), her grandchildren Eric Zimmelman and Mardee (and husband David) Ambriz, and great grandchildren Matthew, Cynthia, Jacqueline and Andrew. Helen leaves behind loving nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and countless friends who all will dearly miss her.The family wishes to thank Helen's devoted caregivers for their loving and compassionate attention during the last 6 years of her life.
