Helene Victoria Douglas

January 13, 1944 - August 14, 2014 Helene Victoria "Vicki" Douglas, born on January 13, 1944, was the daughter of Dr. E. Lorenzo Douglas and Naomi Woodland Douglas of Philadelphia, PA. Her beloved older sister, Lorene Naomi Douglas McCain, predeceased her. Vicki graduated from Friends Select School in Philadelphia in 1961. She earned her undergraduate degree from Bennett College in 1965 and a Master of Social Work degree from the Atlanta University School of Social Work in 1967. Vicki moved to Los Angeles where she resided until her death on August 14, 2014. Vicki had an illustrious career first as a Medical and then as a Psychiatric Social Worker. She retired from the Martin Luther King Hospital, where she was the Assistant to the Director of Social Services. Vicki was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a devoted member of the Bennett College Alumni. She had many friends in all walks of life. She was generous with her friends and family and took pride in their accomplishments. Vicki leaves two nieces, Robyn McCain and Tracey McCain Quarles; a great niece, Alyssa; a great nephew, Demetrius; a brother-in-law, Robert McCain; an aunt, Aida Woodland; several cousins, including Charles and John Woodland; and a host of friends, including Arlene Ware, Jai Norman, Thelma Fukuda Young, Carolyn Lloyd Collier, Wilhelmina Raspberry and Marilyn Hardin. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Vicki Douglas will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Angelus Funeral Home, 3875 S. Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90008.
