Howard Klein Obituary

May 21, 1937 - June 29, 2024 Howard Stephen Klein passed away on June 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Howard was born on May 21, 1937 in Chicago and was raised as an only child by his doting parents, Joseph and Ida Klein. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1951.
Howard graduated from Fairfax High School in 1954. He attended UCLA and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society in his junior year. Howard attended UCLA law school, obtaining his Juris Doctor degree in 1961. He had a distinguished 52-year career as an attorney, specializing in Family Law, Estate Planning, and Estate Litigation. Howard was one of the first Certified Specialists in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law in the state of California, contributing to Continuing Education of the Bar activities, primarily on probate/family law crossover issues, on which he was an acknowledged authority. He was on the Los Angeles Superior Court Probate Mediation Panel and mediated over 100 cases in his career. Howard also enjoyed mentoring younger attorneys throughout his career. In 1982, Howard founded the Law Offices of Howard S. Klein and eventually retired as a partner from Feinberg Mindel Brandt & Klein in 2014.
After his retirement, Howard continued to pursue intellectual activities, joining study groups and attending courses. Always a compassionate man, Howard volunteered for The Roze Room hospice, comforting patients in their final days. Howard was a true mensch.
Howard was introduced to his beautiful wife, Rossy, on a blind date in 1962. They married in 1964 and had two children, Susan and Danny. Howard was proud of being Jewish and believed in tikkun olam. He was very involved with B'nai Brith, serving as District 4 Grand President from 1980-1981.
Howard loved exploring different cultures, watching sports, traveling the world with his beloved Rossy, and spending time with family.
Howard is survived by his wife, Rosalind, his children Susan (Steve) and Daniel (Inbar), and four grandchildren: Gil, Joseph, Carrine, and Joshua. The family would like to thank Michelle and Hershey Weisman and the staff of The Nest for their loving care of Howard in his final days.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11:00 am at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.

Rossy-- Very sorry to hear of Howard's passing. He welcomed me to UCLA 65 years ago, and gave me sound advice about going to law school. His life was rich, thanks to you and your offspring and their offspring. BTW, I heard Susan's first sentence, near 3rd street park: "I see airplane."
