Jack Schlaifer a native Angelino, born at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital to Gertrude and Sam Schlaifer, youngest of their four children. He attended Cahuenga Elementary, Virgil Jr. High, Fairfax H.S., L.A.C.C. and Cal State L.A. After serving in the U.S. Army, 1951-53 (Sgt. E-5), he was in Store Management with Abbey Rents and was founding partner and Executive Vice President of Alfred J. Allen & Associates, an Executive Search firm. Thereafter he entered the field of Industrial Real Estate as a Broker with his own firm, Bankers Property Group, and later Lee & Associates. After his retirement in 2013 from Lee, he was Property Manager for South Beverly Glen LLC.
He served as an officer on the Board of Directors at Temple Beth Hillel in Valley Village and was a member of Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks. Jack was also on the Board of Directors of The Guardians and in 1992 was a founding member and Past President of The Executives and served on their Board of Directors, Support Groups of The Jewish Home/LAJ Health. He was a member of AIR Commercial R.E. Association and Vice President on their Board and Senior Advisement Committee.
Jack loved to play golf, a hacker with a lot of 4-letter words. He loved the beauty of the local and well-known courses that he played around the world. Most of all he loved to be with his golfing buddies. Jack was blessed with many long friendships, all of whom he loved dearly. Jack had a loving nature which he gave freely to others he cared for and was known for telling great jokes.
Jack and his marriage partner of 58 years, Margaret (Marge)(z'l), whom he treasured, loved to travel the U.S. & the world, making many new friends along the way.
He is survived by his beloved son, Alan, and his partner Rachel Bernstein, ex-wife Lori Weinstock, grandchildren, Alyssa Faith, and Joshua Michael, plus his loving nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, son Michael, and brothers, Arthur and Phillip, and sister Edna Bergson.
