Jacqueline Weisberg Obituary

January 1, 1936 - June 6, 2018 Jackie Weisberg was born in San Francisco. She was the daughter of William H. and Barbara Kaiser Levit. Jackie graduated from Beverly Hills High School, Stanford University and Stanford University School of Law. One of Jackie's fondest memories of being an undergraduate at Stanford was her participation as a "Pom Pom girl" at Stanford football and basketball games. After law school, she became an Assistant United States Attorney, Los Angeles Superior Court Referee and Commissioner, Judge of the Los Angeles Municipal Court, Judge of the Beverly Hills Municipal Court, and Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court from which she retired in 1996. Among the trials over which Jackie presided was litigation involving the estate of Groucho Marx and the murder prosecution of Danny Lee Young who was convicted of driving his car into a crowd of pedestrians in Westwood during the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, killing a fifteen-year-old girl and injuring 48. After retirement she continued to sit as an assigned judge. Also in retirement Jackie continued her lifelong interest in travel, primarily to Europe and vacations in Hawaii. Jackie also pursued her passion for tennis and swimming and took up golf as well. Jackie is survived by her husband Stanley M. Weisberg who she married in 1985. She is also survived by son Jack Weiss, daughter-in-law Leslie Kautz, son Andrew Weiss, daughter-in-law Kate Julian, grandchildren Mollie, Jacob, Clara and Caleb, and her brother William H. Levit, Jr., sister-in-law Missy Levit, and nieces and nephew. Jackie's prior marriages to Joseph Livermore and Walter Weiss each ended in divorce. Jackie's endearing smile, keen wit and grace will be sorely missed by all who loved her. Per Jackie's request there will be no services.
