James Trotter Obituary

Trotter, James Robert Died on October 5th, 2005. Born in York, Nebraska. Grew up in Omaha and graduated from North High in 1942. Joined Army Air Corps and trained as a pilot. Flew transport planes across North Africa, based mainly in Sudan during WWII. After the war, flew for TWA before enrolling in Northwestern and receiving a degree in Geology. Worked for some 40 years in the field of geology and soils engineering. Promoted to Major in the Air Force Reserve and earned MS at Cal State Long Beach. Worked in offshore oil exploration in Ventura, where he met and married Betty Wentworth who was an editorial staff member of the Ventura Star Free Press. Retired after 25 years of service with the Los Angeles County Public Works Department. Briefly was a consultant, then retired to sports, investments and support of his wife's civic activities.
Survived by his wife and his son, James Wentworth Trotter in San Francisco, his brother William near Atlanta, GA and his sister Genevieve in Omaha, NE. Memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15th at Northridge United Methodist Church, 9650 Reseda Blvd., Northridge, CA.
