JANE Nitta Obituary

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Jane Hashimoto Nitta, 91 year-old, Toppenish WA born, resident of Culver City who passed away on November 3, will be held on Sunday, November 30, 12:00pm at West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple, 2003 Corinth Ave, Los Angeles, California. Jane graduated from University High School, West Los Angeles in 1941. She married Larry Toshio Nitta in 1942. During WWII they were interned at Camp Jerome, AR. Larry joined the United States Army where he served at the Pentagon while Jane worked there also as a Secretary. After the war, Jane and Larry owned and operated Granada Market in Little Tokyo. They operated this key business on First Street until the 1970's. Jane's interest and hobbies centered around traditional Japanese art and collections; as well as dance and travel. Jane is preceded in death by her husband, her two sisters and her brother. She is survived by her children, Craig Alan Nitta and Janis Nitta (Thomas) Betts; grandchildren, Lori (Christopher) Mattix, Ronald Betts, and Lauren Nitta; great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Sarah Mattix.
