Jay Gutterman Obituary

February 3, 1961 - July 7, 2015 Jay "Bird" Gutterman, dedicated father of Jake and Ethan, son of Jules and Anita, brother of Mari, former husband to Lisa, and friend to hundreds in the San Fernando Valley, passed away on July 7. A life long tennis player, grillmaster, and skier, Jay was a high energy, intense, yet nurturing, friend who never said no to a request for a favor. A familiar site in the Valley in his 1971 Cutlass, Jay bumped into people he knew everywhere he went. A hard worker from an early age, Jay bused tables at Art's Deli, delivered food to boxes at the Hollywood Bowl, and dressed celebrities at Mel Fox Clothiers until finding his niche in debt management. Memorial services pending.

A few weeks ago I was organizing my closet and when I got to the ties I came across one that took me a minute to recognize,Then I realized It was one that you had given me. You gave it to me when I told you I was starting a new sales job. The next day you came to my house and handed me the tie and said; "This is my lucky tie, I have done millions in sales wearing this tie, I want you to have it". I was speechless ! it brought a tear to my eye that day as it did a few weeks ago when I remembered you had given it to me. That is the kind of person
you were and the kind of friend you were . I miss you Bird, more than you know.
Your Buddy ,
Tim

Jay was a great man. Worked with him for about a year and it felt as if I knew him for ten. My Office was right next to his & not a day went by without him walking in with a fist bump and asking how my day is going. His kids meant the world to him. Rest In Peace good man.

I miss you buddy. the parties we went to, The Palm Springs runs..riding in your cutlass (the bird mobile), swimming over at my house,, a few years ago when we went to Zuma with the boys, you and I were throwing the Frisbee on the beach , we were hamming it up pretty good,, more than once we were approached and asked if we were professional frisbee throwers...I'll never forget that .. Rest in piece Jaybird /Gray bird.

Jay was a uniquely gifted person and natural born salesman. His two sons were his absolute pride and joy.

He was a gifted tennis player, gourmet and always fastidiously attired. His well-honed sense of humor--augmented by his uncanny observation skills set him apart.

His high-energy, zest for life and sparkle in his eyes will be fondly remembered. I am deeply honored to be his friend.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jay "Bird" while working together. I loved his intense personality. There wasn't a day he didn't talk about his two boys, and how proud he was of them. He was truly an exceptional man, friend, and father so thank you Jay for all the laughs, and for making work a little fun. B.B's for ever!! (Insider)
