Jeanne Kerwin Obituary

June 18, 1960 - February 11, 2016 Jeanne Kerwin (nee Troy) passed away peacefully in her sleep February 11th with her husband and children at her side. She had struggled valiantly with a brain tumor for over three years. She died in her new home in Venice CA where she and her family had recently relocated after living 22 years in New York City. Jeanne was born in Los Angeles and raised in Canoga Park, went to Chaminade Preparatory High School, and attended both UCLA and Loyola Marymount. After college she became active in the LA theatre community producing plays for Catalina Productions. She then worked for years as a casting director at The Disney Channel. After moving to New York, she became active in, and was later employed by, the NYC Dept of Education. Just prior to her cancer diagnosis, she had re-entered the entertainment industry in TV development. More than anything, Jeanne enjoyed entertaining friends at her home. She also loved traveling -- but always with friends. Her family and friends were her life. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Brian, and their three children, Finn, Matilda, and Brennan. She is also survived by her mother, brother, and three sisters. A memorial will be held on March 5th at 1 o'clock at Big Door, 114 Sheldon St., in El Segundo. A separate memorial in NYC is pending.

Hello Brian. Your work on the Highway to Heaven show "Hotel of Dreams" reaches out from your past to continually bring joy to my dementia affected 83 year old mom who repeatedly watches you and the cast spin the tale of prince charming meets cinderella. Thought I would let you know of the positive effect your work has on people from the past and into the future and I googled your name. So sorry to read about your wife, Jeanne's, recent passing. It brought some tears to our eye at the thought of you losing your true loved one. We live in Redondo Beach and wish we could have attended her memorial in El Segundo. Take care and god bless you and your family.

Dear Brian and beautiful children,
I just heard the sad news of Jeanne's passing. I'm so glad that all 4 of you were able to be at her side. We all know she was taken away too soon. What a life force she was! I always adored her passion, especially when we served together on SLT at PS87, fighting the good fight. Oh, my heart aches for all of you, and just knowing she's not on this earth any longer. Having lost my former husband/forever friend actor Michael McCarty just over a year ago, suddenly due to a heart attack, I can say that he is always with me. A love shared never ends. Much love, Jane Seaman

So sorry to hear of Jeanne's passing. We got to know each other through the Drama Productions at Chaminade College Prep. She was always delightful to be around and had a cheerfulness that she shared with others. God rest your soul and may perpetual light shine upon you.. Maureen Devine

To Brian and Jeanne's children,
Jeanne fought to establish better community public schools
to attract and educate children of all economic classes and
diverse cultural backgrounds. She and Brian believed in
the richness of the city. Because of their work
two great schools were established: The Computer School
and Beacon High School. Their goal was to maintain
the mix of abilities and talents. To work towards igniting the potential in each pupil through innovative and dedicated
teaching backed by a strong, supportive administration.
Jeanne's love lives on in her children, her husband
and the young people who were afforded their right
to an excellent and free public education in this city
located in a small island off the mainland.

Dear Family and Friends:

We are so sorry for your loss. Please be comforted in knowing that soon all Sickness, Death, Pain and Sorrow will be gone. For the Creator has promised no more Crying, Sorrow or any Dying, for God has said: "I'm Making All Things New, These Words, Faithful are and True."

Just think, soon no more will anyone say 'I am sick.'

What a future to look forward too.

Until that time, please be comforted by his promises.
