Jerome Sklar Obituary

Sklar, Jerome E.
December 12, 1930 - June 12, 2011
Jerome Edward Sklar (Jerry) passed away June 12, 2011 in Palm Desert CA. Jerry was born to Rose and Irving Sklar on December 12, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated from Marshall High School in 1948. He loved playing sports growing up, especially basketball, and was a talented ball handler. As a youth he enjoyed watching the Minneapolis Lakers, who moved to Los Angeles shortly after he did in the mid 1950's, where he continued to enjoy following the team. He was also a Dodger fan, and his passion for his teams carried on throughout his life. He served in the Korean War from 1951-1953, stationed in Germany. He graduated from CSULA, earning a degree in accounting. Jerry was a CPA for 54 years. He was extremely well liked, as well as respected and admired for his knowledge, skill and integrity. A sole practioner for over 40 years, he had a very successful practice, and was committed to his clients and to his profession. Jerry was also an avid golfer, and moved with his loving wife (of 25 years) Judy to Palm Desert where he was able to spend many, many hours on the golf course with his golfing buddies. He was proud of his two "holes in one", as well as his uncanny ability to make clutch putts with a match on the line. He enjoyed doing the crossword, going to the movies, dining out, spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed his weekly poker game. Jerry possessed a singularly solid and strong will. His family will remember him as kind, loving, funny, gentle and generous, and he will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife Judy, his children Jeffrey and Tracy, and his granddaughter Emily.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 pm on Thursday June 16, 2011, arrangements pending.
For those wishing to honor his memory, the family suggests donations in the name of Jerry Sklar to: The American Lung Association www.lungusa.org/donate.

Judy and family:
Jerry had been in my life for more years than I can remember. His accounting expertise helped my business for many years and continued into our personal life. He was always direct and knowledgeable.
Our golf days always enjoyable, filled with fun and lots of laughs...even the scores were laughable.
I know the last years have been difficult but knowing Jerry, there was always a smile and a positive attitude.
Billie and I send our love and sympathy.
