Joe Palacios Obituary

PALACIOS, Joe Louis It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Palacios on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. Joe, a resident of Winnetka, CA, was 62 years old and is survived by his loving wife of 34 years and best friend, Barbara Ann Palacios, his sisters and brothers, his father-in-law Louis Barba, his family and many wonderful friends. Born August 15, 1947, Joe was named after Joe Louis by his grandmother who was a great fan of the legendary boxer. Joe touched the lives of many family, friends and colleagues and was known for his love for fishing and his many dogs. From 1968 to 1969, Joe served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He spent the majority of his career managing property throughout the San Fernando Valley for Kenlor Management for the last 32 years. Though Joe likely died of a heart attack, there was no question about how big his heart was. "J.P." we will always remember you for your goodness, your generosity, your constant willingness to help anyone in need whether the task was small or large, and your quiet and kind sense of humor. We love you Joe! You will truly be missed. A memorial service will be held at Gates Kingsley Gates Mortuary (6909 Canoga Ave., Canoga Park, phone (818) 348-3354) on Monday with viewing at 5 p.m. and service beginning at 6 p.m. A dinner celebrating Joe's life will follow the service at 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant, at 16320 Raymer Street, Van Nuys, CA 91406, phone (818) 994-7437.

Joe, you are missed! You certainly left an impression on my heart and in my mind. You were a great man with a foundation of truth, integrity and kindness which are rare qualities to find in people these days. I know God is taking care of you and trust we will see you again! In the meantime, we are here and will take care of your "lady", Barbara :) XOXO - Linette & Missy

The Joe I know...

Weather you were lauging in group, or talking one on one, He made you feel that you were the most important person to him at that moment. Because that's the Joe I know...

A panama hat, a cigar in one hand, a glass of merlot in the other, and a beautiful smile from his heart. That's how I see him... that's the Joe I know.

He was always ready to give you a hug. When you least expected it, but always when you needed it. Because that's the Joe I know.

He loves Barbara very much, and would want her to be surrounded by family and friends always. Because that's the Joe I know.

He would'nt hurt a fly, unless he was tying it at the end of his fishing line. Because that's the Joe I know.

He's gone fishing. And has left a wonderful impression in our hearts and he will be thought of often. That's the way he wants it... Because that's the Joe I know!

I love you Joe and Barbara!

(A song for Joe)

Silent night, holy night
The night we let Joe go
Silent night, holy night
We will always feel his energy flow

We just open our eyes
And heal our hearts
And the Joe we know will always show
To laugh right beside us
When-ever we invite him…
Like always he's with us in our lives

To the sands beneath our feet
To the sound of his voice so sweet
To the memories that he took along…this time

The body may go
But the spirit never leaves
We’re here to let his energy flow

Silent night, holy night
The night we let Joe go
Silent night, holy night
We will always feel his energy flow…
We’ll always feel his energy flow…
Good night Joe, good night my friend
Love from Gregory Blake and Shae Andrae

Barbara,

Please know my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this time. I feel I knew Joe just by the few times we shared familarites between Joe and my husband. If there is anything you need, to talk, cry or just sit in silence, please do not hesitate to ask. I know we are new found friends, but I have always loved talking to you about our husbands and I hope we continue our friendship.

Uncle Joe, you will be greatly missed, but always remembered. I will always have the memories of you taking me fishing to Leg Lake, the funny things you said and your warm smile. No matter what the situation was I never heard you speak a bad word about anyone. I will miss you very much and am glad you were part of my life and my children got to know you as well.

I love you "JP" and I will remember the last thing you said to me " Take care of your beautiful family, you are very lucky". as lucky as I was to have known you and to have you in my life.

I will!

Though I never had the pleasure of meeting you, I feel like I knew you through my relationship with Monica-who absolutely adored you. Your loving kindness to her throughout her life is testament to how you lived it, not only with her but your extended family and acquaintences. You will be sorely missed. As your soul continues it's endless journey, may the good Lord bless and keep you, and your loved ones celebrate your life by living theirs accordingly. Godspeed!
