Joel Hirsch Obituary
Born in Detroit on December 11, 1941 to Robert and Lillian, he resided there until 1946 then the family moved to Los Angeles, California. He served in the Army in Germany and France and was honorably discharged in 1968.
Dr. Hirsch was a well-respected optometrist with a thriving practice in Los Angeles, where he served on many boards within the optometric community until he retired in 2011 and moved to Indio, CA.
Joel in his early years was a jogger, a huge lover of the sun and an avid golfer. He sponsored many recovering addicts and volunteered at the Betty Ford Center.
Joel will be greatly missed by all who loved him. The services will be held at Mt. Sinai in Simi Valley (6150 Mount Sinai Drive) on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the City of Hope in Joel's honor.

Dear Roberta. Sorry to have had to miss the funeral service. Joel was a mensch, and we are glad to have known him for over 40 years - as a friend, a colleague, and a member of the Contact Lens Group. We have many good memories from meetings, parties, optometric events, being at each other's homes, and even your wedding. He will be forever remembered by us. May his memory be a blessing to you in your future.
