From the time Jon and I worked together to help get his Airman of the Year paperwork in order, I was always amazed by Jon's intelligence and dedication. He was a leader and a person you could always depend on. He was quick to learn and always willing to help others with their work and difficulties. Jon will be missed by many. It was an honor to work with him and get to know him.

As JT's First Sergeant, I got to know him working through the challenges he faced during his last years in the Air Force. Jon was always the mentor, working with new airmen, making sure they were ready to take over for those leaving. He never gave up and as I talked to his family, I knew this was a strong family bound together by their love for each other. But it seems the heavens needed another mentor. Not all wars are fought on the battlefield. Shirt.

Dear Taylor Family:
I am heartbroken with the loss of John. He was my very best friend when we were young and was like a brother to me. A truly great person in every aspect. Your family made me feel as if I was one of your own. I know my family and myself truly mourns the loss of a wonderful friend and one whom we considered a family member. I am so saddened that I cannot be there to offer you some form of comfort but know that he will forever live in our hearts. Please know that I offer you all of my love for bringing such a beautiful light into the world with John. We love you all and I am truly so sorry for your loss. Ryan Ward and family.

JT was such a good friend first to my son Jesse Longoria and his crowd. He took time to share life with Jesse and teach him many things about life. I was so happy to have JT part of our family. I started visiting him with Jesse and we would sit in the house, 'bunkered down' he would say. He was so much fun to talk with and enjoyed every moment with him. We loved to talk about military life and living with all the jargon and lifestyle. He came to my house one day this year and brough spaghetti for all of us to enjoy together, Blake Nikki and Terra many of us there. He was such a joy to have in the house and hoped to do many more of these get-togethers. He was so happy to be marrying his sweetheart and talked of her often. I recall a facebook conversation we had with another friend and he was so full of honor the way he talked and stood his ground. I certainly enjoyed him everytime we were together.
JT I know you are in a place that is free of pain sorrow and suffering. I only wished that the pain would go away for you one day. All of your valient days in the military. The 'outhouse' blowing up around you, and yet you were still untouched. You were told to be untouchable. Went through so many tours of duty in dangerous places. Jesse loves you shirt that you gave him. He wears it with honor. You had said you were blown up in that shirt and yet not one touch to your body. But the mind you stuggled with so harshly. I cried many days in my heart for your soul that struggled after serving so hard for your country. I love you JT and I respect you greatly. You will always be part of my life! and my heart! Thank you for all you are and all you have done for me and for my family. JT it is an honor to know you my friend. Today you are free!!! Love from us the longoria/Spencer family!

JT. What can I say. From Norfolk to Japan to mortoritaville. You always had my back and tried your best to mentor me. As stub urn as I am you made impact on my life! You were my diplomat and were always the best at explaining to people what was going through my head at heated times. You could make me smile even during the worst of times uplifting everyone around you with your quick wit. So here it is. To you Jon my drinking buddy, my mentor, and most of all my brother! We will regroup again some day!

J-T, man, you're gone too soon. I can still remember the gleam in your eye when we worked through problems in Iraq, the many laughs at the gazebo by the barracks while in Germany, and the great outings of golf in Utah. Above all, I miss our friendship. But that was your gig...making friends with any and everyone. A talent many can only wish to have.

It was a privilege to serve with Jon in the Air Reserve at Hill AFB, where I served for many years with many great people. Jon was certainly one of most outstanding men that I have ever served with. May God bless and be with his family at this difficult time.

Jon has forever had an impact on my life. He had an amazing intellect that rivaled any I've known… and then there was the confidence that came along with it. He was absolutely someone who was unstoppable when he set his mind to something, and you always knew you could lean on him in a crisis. During his deployment to Balad, JT quickly became the “LEADER” and confidant of men that would follow him into any situation. What an amazing Airmen, Leader, Friend, and most of all Father! I am blessed to have known Jon, and am a better man for it.
Respectfully,
Russ

"The greatest casualty is being forgotten" Wounded Warrior Motto.
My heart is full of sadness for Jon's family. Mrs Taylor, words can't express my sympathies in this time of sorrow. I came to know Jon when he was a young Airman. We have the same birthday, February 6th. There was a group of "young-ens" who came to us at the same time. Jon stood out. I depended on him for critical missions and thoroughly enjoyed our service together. Jon and I were on the same team for almost all our tours. Boy, we did see the world! Jon was bright, intelligent, compassionate, and loved life. He rose through the ranks very fast, but it was his reward for dedication to the squadron and for leading his fellow airmen. Jon never hesitated to pass on his knowledge and expertise to all. He was selfless that way. He was a positive role model. Your request to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name is noble. They try to provide complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life. I have been involved with WWP for many years. First as a VA Director and then as a volunteer.
I ask all my fellow airmen to honor Jon with a donation to WWP ........ Let's all PAY IT FORWARD ! ! ! !
God bless, Mrs Taylor and Jon's children.

Taylor family,
My heart breaks knowing the world no longer has Jon in it. He was my brother and friend, and I will miss him terribly. I had the privelege of serving with him in the Air Force Reserve and as Resident Advisors at SUU. He spent time with my family a few summers ago, and we will all miss him. I am thankful to have talked to him recently and finally hear "the old Jon" on the phone. I am blessed for having known him. May God grant you all peace that passes all understanding in your time of grief. Angela "Odom" McKelvey

I was very glad to know Jon. He was one of the first people in the 67th APS to welcome me into the unit in 1997 and was always my friend! We went on many annual tours together and he was always so much fun to hang around with. I was always intrigued by his passion to learn and to succeed. I'm glad I was able to be a part of his life. My very best to Jon's family and friends.

Words can not express how sorry I am for your loss. He would not want anyone to grieve for long. He was always so sweet and respectful to all he came in contact with. I am honored to have known him and been able to see him around town once in awhile, he always took the time to talk. Thank you JT for you.

As JT's personal banker I had the opportunity to get to know him and brag about him to fellow bankers. JT always carried himself with a strong spirit and probably one of kindest and most respecting clients I was able to work with. I enjoyed talking with him about future plans and loved listening to him talk of his plan to retire in Belize. My our Heavenly Father bless you my dear friend JT, my thoughts and prayers will certainly be directed to his friends and family. Just as I told him each time he left the bank, "Thank you for your service and the hard work that makes this country free today JT." To my good friend and client who always made me feel respected and important, I love you JT, and thank you for your example.
