I was deeply saddened at the news of Joe Miller's passing. I thought of Joe as a true friend for nearly sixty years, from Junior High onward. Joe was the nicest, most honorable and smartest man I ever knew. The world was a better place while he was here; the world is now suffering in his absence.

Joe Miller was a great engineer, great boss, and a greater human being. Education and the human race were the beneficiaries of his time on Earth. His professional accomplishments are too many to mention but his role in saving Apollo 13 is one that shows how he was one of this national’s best.

My thoughts and prayers are with Joe and his family members, it was heart breaking hearing such sad news. Although, I did not know Joe I know from few that he was an intelligent person who everyone deeply loved.

I was so sad to learn of Joe's passing. I had enjoyed getting to know him over the past few years while he was an Adjunct Professor in engineering here at UCLA. He was a gifted and insightful teacher and a valued part of our UCLA family. I treasure the many conversations we had about propulsion, lasers, and life in general.

Sincere condolences to his family. As we say in Armenian, Asdvatz hokin lusavoreh (“May God illuminate his soul”).

I'm terribly sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He's one of those people who inspired me and touched so many people through our careers at TRW. I admire all his many accomplishments and remember little things like him playing Happy Birthday to Laura Yokota on his violin.
Take care,
nancy cook

Please accept my deepest sympathy. Joe will certainly be missed by those of us who knew him, enjoyed working for him, and enjoyed the lunchtime violin serenades.
