Joseph Scardino Obituary

May 25, 1932 - December 2, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Scardino. He passed away in Glendora, California. Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, to Frank and Angelina Scardino, he had one sister, Josephine Bello. The family moved to California when Joseph was 8 years old where after graduating high school he learned the drywall trade. He was then called to enlist in the United States Army where he served honorably. Through family friends, he was introduced to Josephine Moscato, who was the love of his life for 54 years before her passing 6 years ago. Joseph was in the construction business for over 60 years. He built and nurtured a successful drywall company which is a true family business, continuing today into the third generation. He will be remembered as a man of great character and integrity who always put his family first. His hobby was thoroughbred racing and owned many horses throughout his life. His biggest thrill came in 2016 when his horse won the Breeders Cup. Joseph is survived by his children, Angela (James) Gates and Frank (Jennifer) Scardino. His grandchildren, Daniel (Emily) Gates, Gina (Sean) Fessler, Alexandra Scardino and Joseph Scardino and his great-grandchildren, Peyton, Avery, Jacob Gates and Luke and Emma Fessler. His family and circle of friends and acquaintances are many; he'll be remembered fondly by all. Services: Funeral Mass to be at St Dorothy Catholic Church, 241 S. Valley Center Dr., Glendora, CA 91741 on Monday, December 10th, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in memory of Joseph Scardino at www.uscnorris.com/support or to California Retirement Management Account at www.carma4horses.org which provides funding for the rehabilitation and retirement of California-raced Thoroughbreds.

I just learned of this... I am so saddened for your loss and the loss of this wonderful man. He was kind, smart, a real charmer and an amazing thoroughbred racing advocate. He love the challenge!
I am now learning of Josephine´s passing... how I adored her. Oh the conversations we had.
I´d been in Costa Rica and didn´t know.
My life, your lives and all who loved these beautiful people, shine less brightly.... All love to you...
