Jovite LaBonte Obituary
He is survived by his beloved wife Jennifer Daniels of Santa Monica; three children: Dr. Joanne LaBonte of Chicago, IL; David LaBonte of Newport Beach, CA; Tracy LaBonte of Baltimore, MD; their mother, Jane LaBonte of Clayton, MO; two sisters: Alice L. McIntyre of Corpus Christi, TX, and Dorothy LaBonte of West Warwick, RI; and three grandchildren: Isabel, Noah and Theodore LaBonte-Clark. Mr. LaBonte was born January l6, l933, in Providence, RI, the son of Jovite and Madeliene LaBonte. He was a graduate of Brown University in 1956, and served his country as an officer in the US Marine Corps. He completed an outstanding career in the insurance industry serving as President of Great American Life Insurance Company of Los Angeles, CA, from l971 until his retirement in l993. A memorial service in Mr. LaBonte's memory will be conducted at The Little Chapel of the Dawn, 1925 Arizona Avenue, Santa Monica, California at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Allergy and Asthma Network, 2751 Prosperity Avenue, Suite 150, Fairfax, Virginia 22031.

I was a field vice president for Great American Life Ins. Co. when Joe was its president. I had great respect for his quiet leadership and was pleased to take part with him in the company's remarkable growth spurt during the 1980's. I will always remember his kindness and generosity.
