Judith Douthit Obituary

March 29, 1932 - September 7, 2025 Judy Douthit passed away on September 7, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born March 29, 1932 in Los Angeles, California and was the daughter of Maurice Ratner and Elsie Brick.

She was an extraordinary individual whose light shone brightly on everyone who knew her. Her wisdom was a quiet comfort, her unconditional love was a constant source of strength. She enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her through her warm smile, kindness, generosity, grace and welcoming ways. As a home economics teacher for over 35 years, her students learned how to do things properly and with class. She continued entertaining this way for her entire life which was greatly enjoyed by her family and friends. After she retired she volunteered as a docent at the Museum of Tolerance for over 15 years.

She will leave an indelible mark on our hearts forever. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving sister Jacque Ratner-Stauber, nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins, plus her dear friends over the last 80 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell (February 2025) and siblings Betty Gottlieb (March 2010) and Benay Zabel-Smith (August 2017).

A funeral to celebrate her life was held at Mount Sinai Parks and Mortuary on September 16th. A live streaming appears on her memorial page or https://Mount-Sinai-Memorial-Parks-and-Mortuaries.livecontrol.tv/47aa4a25

The family requests that donations can be made to the Museum of Tolerance.
