Kathryn Gerletti Obituary

November 22, 1921 - February 8, 2014 The Gerletti Family sadly announces the passing of their beloved Mother and Grandmother, Kathryn Green Gerletti, on February 8, 2014. Kathryn was born on November 22, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland and passed away from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was raised in Baltimore by her loving parents, Dorothy Stech and J. Earnest Green. Kathryn married John D. Gerletti on April 3, 1946 and together they were happily married for 64 years while residing in South Pasadena, California. Kathryn loved traveling and with her husband, John, who preceded her in death in October of 2010, they traveled around the world with their four children with four-year stays in Teheran, Iran and Karachi, Pakistan. Kathryn also loved tennis and golf and participated in many "Wash Day Wimbledons" on the tennis courts at Garfield Park, South Pasadena. She became deeply involved with The League of Women Voters, South Pasadena PTA, and University of Southern California Faculty Wives. She was quick with a smile, an avid reader and a great cook who loved to entertain her family and friends. Kathryn is survived by her four children John, Harold, David and Kathy, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. We miss you Mom!

I believe this is the Kathryn Gerletti who was the beloved wife of John Gerletti, who served (among other places) in Karachi, Pakistan in the early 1960's with AID. If I am correct, I will be forever grateful to be able to "meet the deadline" to register my appreciation for the influence and joy this woman contribute to my life. She was a mentor to me 52 years ago, when I was a very impressionable 13 years old. Her husband LOVED her, as she did him. I was thinking of her tonight and wanted to "find" her. I thought I would write that I was sorry I didn't "find her in time" to write this to her, but I feel as if she was already with me. I believe her to be my "wise friend", but if this message is received by another family, please accept my condolences in any case. Your loved one share a name with a great lady.
