Kendall R. Bishop

March 3, 1939 - August 5, 2023 Kendall (Ken) Roger Bishop passed away after a courageous 11-year battle with Parkinson's disease. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, as well as a respected lawyer whose impact was felt by many.
Ken grew up in Beverly Hills, attended Stanford University (Class of '61) and attended law school at Boalt Hall (Class of '64). He was a partner at O'Melveny & Myers for 40 years, where he was known for his sharp intellect, pragmatic approach, ethics and unwavering commitment to his clients. He balanced a demanding job with a strong commitment to his family. At O'Melveny, he was a role model for many young lawyers, teaching them not only the intricacies of corporate law but also client management and the importance of work-life balance. Ken and his family moved to Paris in 1974 where he was the head of the Paris office and later served as the head of the OM&M Century City office. Career highlights include the successful sale of Trader Joe's and the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as serving for many years as outside counsel overseeing multiple acquisitions for clients, including Disney and Univision.
Ken never lost sight of what truly mattered - his family and friends. He married Diane Sirota after a 3-month whirlwind romance in 1967, and they enjoyed a wonderful 56 years together, filled with friendships, adventure and love. He was a devoted father to Randy, Lauren, and Ali and set an example as a wonderful, engaged father despite a demanding career. He truly loved his role as grandfather (Papa) to his nine grandchildren, teaching each of them to ride a bike, play cribbage, make pancakes and also taking them on fun-filled vacations.
Ken also felt it was critical to give back to his community. He served on the boards of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, Cancer Support Community, and Direct Relief.
Ken's battle with Parkinson's was a testament to his strength and resilience. He fought the disease with courage and determination, never complaining or losing his spirit or his sense of humor. His life and legacy will be celebrated in a ceremony on August 16th at Leo Baeck Temple.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ken's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Planned Parenthood or Direct Relief.
