Kenneth Koslow Obituary

March 12, 1952 - January 3, 2023 Ken is survived by his love and life partner, Jeanne Meyers, her sons Riley (wife Emma) and Charles McMahon (wife Meredith), grandson Rowan McMahon, and Ken's brother Ron Koslow, sister Judy Koslow (husband Stefan Zweig), and nieces Lily and Jenna Zweig.  He is pre-deceased by his brother Bobby and parents Samuella and David.

Ken's childhood home was in the hills of the Santa Monica Mountains, overlooking Los Angeles from Westwood to Santa Monica and Catalina Island.  As Ken grew, he saw the region transform into a thriving city, and he knew he wanted to have a hand in shaping its future.

With a BA from Cal State Northridge, an MA from the Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning at UCLA, and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from MIT, he made his mark on the city of Los Angeles through Koslow Associates, Urban Innovations Group, Sumitomo Corporation, Santa Monica Schools District, Westfield Corporation, and for nearly 20 years at KFA Architects.

KFA Architects grew and received awards for several projects that Ken worked on including the adaptive reuse of the historic Eastern Columbia Building, The Ace Hotel, as well as affordable housing, homeless shelters, and community centers.   Ken was loved and respected by co-workers at KFA and was considered a great mentor.

Ken was an advisor and supporter of The MY HERO Project, providing his perspective and guidance to this nonprofit global community that promotes tolerance, understanding and equality in our world.

Along with his family and friends in Los Angeles, Ken will be missed by so many in his second home, Laguna Beach.

Ken was our guiding light, who taught us grace, love and patience with our imperfections. His loyalty was as steadfast as his kindness, and our hearts are enriched by his life and legacy.

A memorial service will be held on February 5, 2023 at 10:00 am in Los Angeles. Please RSVP to attend: [email protected]

Dearest Jeanne I am so sorry I will not be able to attend Ken's memorial as I would have wanted to. Ken was your best friend, and so much more. I will always remember his wonderful way with people, a great conversationist, caring and warm. He was easy to smile, enjoyed a good laugh and embracing of life. He was your rock, you were his muse. I am so sorry for your loss and hope to see you soon. I send my love and many hugs. May his memory be for a blessing.

Ken was the kind of man whose warm smile and calm composure conquer you right away. We became and remained good friends the first day I saw him. Many dinners, lunches or breakfast were to follow. He was always there with his smile, helpful and supporters.
There are days when we discussed architecture projects and his desire to help homers. He was doted with a good heart and a will to bring to life his vision. I miss him.

Ken's warmth, kindness and grace will be so missed by many who knew him in our complex. We both grew up in the Hollywood Hills and chatted about our childhoods too. My heart goes out to Jeannie and family.

Kenny and I grew up together. We lived on the same street went to the same schools and Sunday school. He drove me to school often and we would laugh and commiserate about stuff in our lives. Our parents were friends...we were connected. I am beyond sad. I send all my love to Judy and all who loved him. I cherish my memories and will keep him in my heart forever

Jeanne, Judy and Family,
I have known Kenny since the 7th. Grade and I always thought of him as the kindest guy I ever knew and that never changed thru the years. I spoke to him not long ago, and ( can´t remember what he said) but I laughed so hard I cried. That was our last chat. We are all lucky to have known him.
RIP sweet Kenny

Kenny was part of our family when I was growing up and was a great support through difficult years.
I always felt his kindness and loyalty as he was always there for my mother through out her life.
He will always hold a special place in my heart.
I loved his smile and laugh.
