KENNETH TAIRA Obituary

Kenneth M. Taira, 62, passed away on July 13, 2021, in Monterey Park. He received a BS in chemical engineering from UC Berkeley followed by an MS in petroleum engineering from USC. Ken was first employed by SoCal Gas before transitioning to engineering and tech consulting. He proudly founded Caprica, an early dial-up internet service. He discovered his passion for teaching and served as an adjunct professor in computer science for 30+ years at WLAC and GCC. Ken will fondly be remembered for his kindness, patience, intelligence, innovation and sense of humor. Private services were held at Rose Hills Memorial Park on July 24th

He was a pleasant guy to talk to, as I was an older guy in computer science. He talked with me about his experiences, so considered him a good listener, and empathetic in such a demanding curriculum. God bless him and his family
