It is 2023 and many years after Kim's passing. I played rugby with Kim at UCLA. I remember the times we had and the many laughs playing for Dennis Storer's first UCLA. So sorry you went so young Kim. I miss the times we had.

It was a cold, windy and rainy night, thunder and lightning filled the air and gave a ominous feeling to a close friend and I as we tried to walk outside with aluminum baseball bats and a hockey stick. I was 11... Mom explained lightning, aluminum, not so good... We ventured outside anyway, after begrudgingly leaving our lightning rods just inside the front door. After a few moments of staring into the chillingly vast, electricity-filled sky, I heard smooth footsteps at long intervals which I did not recognize... Already feeling small and insignificant after staring up at the night sky, the footsteps grew louder as a large shadowy figure of a man with huge broad shoulders, in a dark trench coat and hat began to emerge out of the darkness, further perpetuating my feeling of small and insignificance... My friend and I were frozen, we looked at each other, his eyes giving me a look as if to beg, "You recognize that man, don't you? Tell me you recognize him!" As I turned back from my friends' fear-filled eyes to try to catch a glimpse of the shadowy figures' face to inquire my recollection, he was right next to us!... "Hey bud, is your Mom in the house?" Queried a voice with the strength of a giant, and the kindness and warm-heartedness of an old friend who was always there to lend a hand. "uh... yeah..." I gulped in response... "Thanks Kiddo..." he said with a grin that lit up his face under the brim of his hat, and simultaneously set me at ease, and he walked inside... This night happened over 19 years ago... and it left that kind of an impression... Kimmer left that kind of an impression... Every where he went and with every one who ever met him. He will truly be missed by all of us who love him, and his kind-hearted spirit will not soon be forgotten. Our prayers are with you and your family...

Gail, I was so sorry to read of his passing. He is one of those people I always wanted to sit down and interview and just share and hear memories. I did not recall about Love of Life, it was a favorite soap of mine. Blessings, Gary Lycan, radio columnist / TV historian, Orange County Register
