Lauren Dombrowski Obituary

DOMBROWSKI, Lauren (51), co-executive producer and writer for Madtv died Oct. 8 at her home in Los Angeles from cancer. Ms. Dombrowski, began her career as a stand-up comic and sketch comedian and was one of the few women who performed regularly in Boston's comedy scene alongside friends Steven Wright, David Cross and Denis Leary. "Lauren was one of the funniest people ever to grace this earth," remarked Mr. Leary. "She made me laugh out loud every single time we saw each other. That's the true measure of a talented lady who in sickness and in health made the world a brighter place to be. Everyone who was blessed to know her as a friend, will never forget her." After leaving Boston, Ms. Dombrowski moved to Los Angeles and joined the staff of Madtv where she served as writer and co-executive producer for over eleven years. "Along with being an incisive producer for the show and a gifted mimic" said Michael Hitchcock, a fellow writer and producer at Madtv, "Lauren was very supportive of other women in the entertainment business. She went out of her way to hire female writers on Madtv and support them." Lauren's husband, Marko Babineau said, "Lauren raised thousands of dollars for City Of Hope, through her many Walks for Hope and her comedy fundraiser last year The Best Medicine. I will forever miss her infectious smile and the endless laughter she brought to everyone she touched." Ms. Dombrowski is survived by her husband, Marko Babineau, sisters Lynne, Jean and Judy and parents Joe and Fran Dombrowski. The family has requested donations be made to The City Of Hope, 1500 East Duarte Road, Duarte, California 91010. There will be a memorial service to honor Lauren on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine, 17190 Sunset Boulevard, Pacific Palisades at 1 p.m.

Lauren lit up the halls of our company with her constant laughter and her incredible wit. And to top it off, she was a wonderful person. I am thankful that I and many others at our company got to know and experience Lauren. My sympathies to her husband, stepdaughter and loving family. God bless, Lauren.

Lauren took a gift she had and turned it into a successful career which gave promise to many others that they too can make it in the business if they believe in themselves. I remember her as a young student at Emerson who helped me out on an art school slide show project. My thoughts and prayers to her sisters, Judy and Jean who I once knew and to sister Lynne and my heartfelt condolences to her loving parents. Keep them laughing in heaven Lauren.

Lauren was a friend of mine in 7th grade. She was a good friend and made me laugh then.

My deepest condolences and warmest thoughts for Lauren and for all the loved ones greiving for her passing. May God wrap his loving arms around you during this difficult time. In my prayers I will keep my memory of Lauren fresh and alive as those days shared with her at Lynnfield Junior High.

I didn't know Lauren personally, but will always remember her comedic gift. I saw her perform in Boston - oh, it has to be 25-30 years ago. I don't know that I've ever laughed as hard as I did that night. I am so sorry for your loss, and know that her memory will always bring you joy.
