so protective,
so creative,
so funny,
so honest,
so open,
so inspirational,
so encouraging,
so tactful,
so original,
and so missed by family and friends. Enjoy the movies, sweetheart.

To those of us that are hard core artists, Lena was a kindred spirit, and we always thought of her as "one of our own", someone who was destined for greatness. She attained that greatness by gracing our lives with her humor, wonderful way of seeing things, her love and her creativity. She has inspired many, many people in her life, myself included. I was fortunate to snap some photos of her for some paintings, so she will live on in my work as well as in the hearts of all of us. Lena, I love you and thank you for being in my life. Your bright light illuminated us all....

There is no word in existence that describe Lena with any true accuracy. She was a goddess, an artist, beautiful, wild. I will miss her dearly. She was a teacher just through her presence, the kind of person I could only hope to be in this lifetime. I was in seventh grade at Archer when Lena was a senior. I idolized her with every fiber of my being, she was golden, a genius. She glowed, she was so unique, so sure of who she was, bursting with life and a soul rife with talent and beauty. She took me under her wing, her sense of humor comforting me even on the worst days. Her soul is somewhere amazing, a goddess she surely is.

My love to all who are affected by the loss of Lena.

Though I only spent such a small amount of time with the Loucks family and Lena, I knew she was one in a Millon. They took me under their wing when i arrived in LA on my way home to New Zealand and took my Unlce John and I to Dinsey Land. We had a fantastic time and i will treasure those memories forever more. All my love to the family.

Brian, Mia, and Shaye,
I watched Lena grow from a curious little girl into a creative young woman. While creating hairstyles for her, I was inspired by her endless enthusiasm for art, movies, and music. A truly exceptional girl. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My very first childhood friend. Lena lit up my life with her adventurous, creative spirit. I will never forget that laugh.

I remember Lena from the yoga class she took over the last year at UCSC. I, and the other yogis were sad to hear of her passing. I remember her "presence", and her gentle energy she would bring to the class, as well as the unique arrangement of stocks, stocking, hair styles, that made her so recognizable. I am sorry for your loss. Patrick

Lena Loucks. The most brilliant, beautiful genius the world will ever have. She's a legend. No one has ever impacted me the way she had. She's a shining star, brighter than any other. Such a special one a kind whimsical fairy of light.

"You'd have to meet her to understand"

I love you Lena, thank you for changing my perception of life, in every positive way possible. You're an angel and now you are finally free to play with the other angels like yourself.
I am so blessed to have known you, and experienced your being. I couldn't live my life to the fullest if you weren't in my mind. It's such a gift to know you. I will never forget you.

Lena Loucks has now exited the building. She was a true muse, intriguing and amazing. Though it was a rarity to see her out through conversation and artistic works I got to grow with her. She was a lost child of Cyndi Lauper proportions almost as outrageous as me. She has and will continue inspiring and musing people. Very rarely do I truly feel a since of good vertigo as her presence made my demeanor seem to change like a rainbow. You will be greatly missed as a true muse...

Brian, Shaye and Mia,
In 2001 Lena and Mia were part of A Cast of Kids. Lena played Aunt Sponge in James and the Giant Peach. I remember Lena full of humor, enthusiasm and spirit. Her Aunt Sponge had us laughing every rehearsal. She was kind, thoughtful and a leader. The kids looked up to her. I was blessed to have known her. God bless Lena and you all. You are in my prayers. RIP, sweet girl.

I will always remember Lena as an exuberant spirit while she was a student at Wildwood. Sincere sympathy to family and friends who join me in mourning her loss.

Our daughter, Olivia, had Art History class with Lena at Archer and spoke of her frequently and with admiration. We lost Olivia just months ago. As parents, our hearts are broken for you. May Lena live in your hearts with peace and love forever. Lena will be remembered always. (the Cull Family)

I will be a student at UCSC come winter, and I did not know Lena (so I sincerely hope I'm not trespassing here), however I just received an email from UCSC regarding her passing, and I just wanted to express my deepest condolences for your loss. Your family will be in my thoughts.

My thoughts are with Lena's family. I went to Wildwood with Lena, and she was truly one of the most amazing people I have ever met. So much life and spontaneity she had. I know she lived a wonderful life, for she was so beautiful and a wonderful girl.

Dear Shay, Brian and Mia,

My thoughts, prayers and sweet memories are with you.

We will all miss the bright light that was Lena Simone's, perhaps too bright for this domain. She has gone on to brighten the universe and shine on us all from afar and in our hearts. A long life does not assure a full life. Lena lived fully---with all her heart.

peace, comfort and love,
