DEAR GAYLE AND FAMILY, I HAD THE PLEASURE AND HONOR TO COACH LEN AT ST. ALPHONSUS. HE WAS THE FIRST BASKETBALL CAPTAIN I HAD AT THE SCHOOL. WHAT A LEADER AND GENUINE PERSON HE WAS. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED TO CHOOSE AN ALL TIME TEAM DURING MY 6 YEARS AT ST. AL'S HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THEM. HE WAS A COACHES DREAM. HE WORKED HARD AND WAS A SUPERB --WHAT THEY WOULD CALL NOW"A POINT GUARD". IN ONES COACHING LIFE YOU GET TO MEET A NUMBER OF FINE PEOPLE BUT I CAN HONESTLY SAY THERE WERE NONE FINER THAN LEN. LEN PLAYED TO HIS POTENTIAL AND BEYOND. HIS MOST IMPRESSIVE TRAITS WERE THOSE THAT SINGLED HIM OUT AS A SUPERIOR HUMAN BEING. IT WAS MY PRIVILEGE TO KNOW AND COACH LEN. I HAVE BEEN BLESSED. MY SYMPATHY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ON YOUR LOSS. BEST REGARDS, RON MROZINSKI

Dear Gayle, Laura, and Eric,
I wanted to express my condolences on Len's passing. I first met Len at the Univ. of Michigan in the fall of 1963. He was fresh out of high school, and I was a counselor in the residence halls: West Quad, Michigan House. A year ot 2 later Len, his 2 roommates, and I took a car trip to see the Michigan--Illinois football game in Champaign, ILL. Michigan won! On our way back we stopped in Marshall MI at Win Schuler's restaurant for Sunday dinner. What a treat! I was fortunate to see Len recently here in Sacramento over dinner. He was in town for a meeting. Len was always very pleasant and kind. He had invited me to join his family for a football game this fall at the "Big House" in Ann Arbor. I know that Len is now in heaven, and I hope I am one of the folks that will join him in the future. Again, best wishes to his family during this period of mourning.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Len's sudden death. We were classmates in the Class of 1963 at St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn MI. What a joy it was to see him in 2005 at the big school reunion in Dearborn. I know that he worked hard to help put that event together even though he was thousands of miles away. It was a "night to remember" and people still speak of it fondly. That is a great tribute to him. May he rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear the news about Len. I was a classmate at St. Alphonsus and though I had not seen him all these many years, there were a lot of memories -- from student council and the debate team. My sympathy to his family.

A tear came to my eye when I began to sign this guest book. Len and I first met in sixth grade, 1956. We played basketball that year and were in sports together from then on. I remember winning our league basketball championship in the eigth grade. We won one game by a score of 16 to 4. I remember winning our league track championship senior year. Len was our best athelete, Captian of Football, Basketball, and Track as well as class President. Senior year track we needed to beat Brother Rice for the championship. We had a team mate, Joe Hall, who could never beat Len and who would get discouraged easily. We really needed Joe that day. He ran the 100 and came in second and was discouraged. Len was right in his ear giving him motivation. Joe ran the 220 and came in second and was discouraged. Len was right in his ear giving him motivation. Len stayed by his side all day and Joe came in second in four events. In track you get points for first, second and third. We won that day and if Joe had taken only one third place instead of all seconds we would have lost.
Len was a good coach, team mate and a great guy to work with. Len hired me away from Ford in 1976 and we spent 7 yrs. together with NuVison Optical. The company grew from 28 optical stores doing 4 million sales to 94 stores doing 20 million. I had a lot of fun working with him and learned a lot. He is one of the SMARTEST people that I have even been associated with. (I know, don't end a sentence with a preposition).
Len was best man at Joan and My wedding and although we did not talk or visit like we would both have liked, we have always been close and the best of friends.

Please put in a good word for me my friend and I will see you in our next adventure together.

Very sorry to hear of Len's passing. My prayers and thoughts to the family. I am a class mate from Saint Alphonsus H.S. and Len and I put on our last GREAT class reunion. I had the opportunity to re connect with Len after 40 years. We reverted back to kids for a evening back in Michigan and I shall cherish those memories. I will not be able to attend the services, but will be with bended knee on 10/4 at 11:00 a.m.
Len proudly wore the number 14 on his basketball jursey as a St. Al's "Arrow". Great guy, good athlete and treasured friend.
