Savage, Leonard James
June 15, 1915 - October 29, 2011
At the age of 96, Dr. Leonard James Savage passed peacefully on October 29, 2011 with his family by side. Born on June 15, 1915, Dr. Savage moved to California with his wife Florence and his son Richard to pursue a career in publishing.

Dr. Savage was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He proudly served our country in World War II under General Patton. He was honored with the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.

Dr. Savage went back to school to become a chiropractor and later to be known as a pioneer in his field. He was a teacher, lecturer, publisher and became a national spokesperson for his profession. He proudly ran his own practice in Studio City for 50 years. A leader in his field, he was honored with the Leonard Savage Biochemistry Lab at the Los Angeles Chiropractic College.

Dr. Savage was a devoted husband of 58 years to his wife Florence who passed in 1997. He loved his wife and family unconditionally. He was a proud, kind and thoughtful man and an inspiration to all that knew him. Dr. Savage is survived by his three children Richard Savage, Anthony Savage (wife Joanna) and Melanie Dukar (husband Alan). His eight grandchildren Brandon Savage (wife Emily), Andrea Savage (husband Jeremy), Jeremiah Savage, Dylan Savage (wife Sanghee), Garett Savage, Ryan Savage, Lauren Dukar and Allison Dukar. Great grandchildren Riley Savage, Ian Savage and Olive Plager.

Dr. Savage was greatly respected by all who knew him both personally and professionally. He will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.


Memorial Services will be held at Mount Sinai in Hollywood Hills on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 11am.


In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Los Angeles Chiropractic College.
