Lewis Smolen Obituary

Lewis Smoke Smolen died peacefully November 22nd in the presence of his family. His early years were spent in New York. In 1960, he seized an opportunity to live the California dream and moved his young family from New Jersey to the west coast in the early days of the emerging semi-conductor industry. Smoke prided himself in preparing Sunday breakfasts of lox, eggs, and well toasted bagels for his family. He was an avid tennis player and devoted aficionado of fine cigars. He always kept emergency rations of cookies and crackerjacks in the glovebox of whatever convertible he was driving and admonished his children "Don't tell your mother." while allowing them to eat as much as they wanted. He was a voracious reader, evidenced by the stack of books on his nightstand. Smoke loved classical music, fine dining, dark chocolate, and travel and imbued his children with the same appreciation. He was predeceased by his beautiful wife Adele, and survived by his three children and their spouses. The family would like to acknowledge the awesome care Smoke received during his six year residency at Oakview Skilled Nursing. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
