Louise Copeland Obituary

Louise Mardell Copeland was born to Arvine Allen and Wilma Marie (Payne) Thornton on July 28, 1921 on a farm near Guide Rock, Nebraska. She passed peacefully with her family at her side on January 17 in Camarillo, CA, at the age of 96. She met the love of her life Doyle Gene Copeland in Superior, Nebraska, where they married and had their only child, Carolyn Jean Copeland Ziegler Jamelkowski. Louise had an amazingly full life. Louise and Doyle moved to Glendale in 1945 where they worked nights and weekends to build their own home. They lived in their beautiful two bedroom home until Doyle passed in 2002. Doyle, a retired Glendale Police Officer and lifelong member of the Elks Lodge took Louise on quite a journey. She was a lifetime member of the Emblem Club (Elks ladies). Together they socialized, traveled and danced. They traveled on cruises, explored Japan, Europe and all over the United States. She was always up for an adventure. Louise had many careers through her life; she worked at Bob's Big Boy, for the Social Security Administration for much of her career, and as a homemaker. She was very detail-oriented, excelled in school but particularly with spelling, made the best apple pies, and would cry at EVERY card she was ever given. She and her siblings would call each other weekly. The shared a very special (as grandma says "Spacial") bond. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Daryl (1977) and Dean (2014) Thornton, and sisters Phyllis Bowes (2015) and Marjeanne Somerhalder (2015). Also preceding her in death was her daughter Carolyn (2010) and grandsons Gordon (1991) and Mark (2005). She is survived by her grandson Stephen Jamelkowski, daughters-in-law Stephanie Jamelkowski, Patricia Ziegler (wife to Mark), and Jennifer Lamm (former wife to Gordon). She also had a tremendous amount of love for her great-grandchildren. They are: Gordon's daughter Alicia Ziegler, Mark's children Mark II, Lindsay and her husband Steven Arens, Shaun, Summer and Stephen's children, Jacob, Joshua and Jacqueline. Louise was also fortunate enough to become a great-great-grandmother in December to Cadence Arens (daughter of Steven and Lindsay Arens). Louise's life was full and amazing and she will be deeply missed by her family but we know that she's celebrating her long life with those she loves in Heaven. A viewing is scheduled for Monday, January 29, 1-5pm and a service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30, 3-5pm at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Church of the Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Dr., Los Angeles.

70 years our life span, 80 with special mightiness - Psalms 90:10. Your beloved one had 96 years of mightiness, wisdom and Love. May all that longevity of special times together be recalled to mind, and bring a warm smile to your heart as each day passes. May she rest in sleep until she hears Jesus' voice - John 11:41-44.

May the wonderful memories of your loved one continue to provide a measure of comfort to you until God's promises are fulfilled. Matthew 5:5

January 26, 2018

Please accept my sincerest condolences for the loss of your love one. May God's words found at (Isiah 25:8) where it states " He will swallow up death forever...." comfort you.
