Marc LOWE Obituary

April 15, 1971 - August 16, 2023 When Marc Darius Lowe took his final breath on August 16th, 2023, the world lost a brilliant personality, a generous soul, and an extraordinary human being. Surrounded by good vibes, family, and friends, Marc bid farewell to this world and ventured into the great beyond at 1:22 AM PST. He was 52.
Born in Mill Valley, California on April 15, 1971 to Wayne Doyen Lowe and Carole Takagaki Lowe, Marc was an innate leader and the life of the party. His favorite word was "Forward" and he lived his life accordingly – always in motion, never looking back.
Marc graduated from Tamalpais High School in 1989 where he played varsity tennis and baseball (he was a catcher, because they call the game and have the coolest gear). Outside of school, Marc developed a passion for snowboarding, becoming one of the first snowboarders (ever) in the 1980s. He was an insane downhill skateboarder and was known for his sheer style and love of vintage scooters.
Marc attended UC Riverside and graduated with a degree in Business in 1993. While there, he began DJing for the college radio station, KUCR, an NPR affiliate, rising through the ranks to become the Music Director and, eventually, Director of Concert Promotions. He was honored to possess a lifetime FCC Broadcasting License.
After college, Marc pursued a career in music in San Francisco. Life threw him a curve ball when his south of Market Street warehouse rent was abruptly doubled and he was forced to find a 9 to 5 job. By chance, he began working at Bank of America as a temp ticker tape runner – a position veteran traders referred to as mere "quote boys."
Flash forward two years later, Marc was named the youngest securities Vice President in BofA history as Head of U.S. Equity Trading at the age of twenty-six. This was Marc's magic. He had conviction and the uncanny ability to make things happen fast. He was the smartest guy in the room, yet remained humble and refused to take things so seriously.
Marc was proud to be a third generation employee at BofA like his grandfather and great-grandfather before him who were also Vice Presidents.
In 2000, Marc relocated to Southern California, expanding his Wealth Management team at BofA/ Merrill Lynch to become the largest group in Los Angeles. In 2015, Marc moved to Wells Fargo Private Equities, further solidifying his mark on the financial landscape.
Marc knew that work was work and not one's identity. He made friends wherever he went and his colleagues became more than friends – they were family. Marc was the patriarch of his team and the heart of the office. He brought people together from various backgrounds and walks of life. People gravitated toward his magnetic energy and that mischievous, playful look in his eye.
In 2010, Marc became a father when his daughter, Parker, was born. Marc instilled in his daughter a love of art and encouraged her to pursue it as a career. He helped her with her homework, taught her the value of family and respecting one's elders, and above all, loved her with all his heart.
In 2012, Marc met a girl named Jaclyn at Nick and Stef's Steakhouse. An unlikely yet destinedpair, the two became inseparable and were married in 2018. They shared many adventures together across the globe – their latest being a trip to Egypt and Israel in June.
In 2020, Marc was diagnosed with oral cancer, but it was an uncontrollable pneumonia that ultimately ended his life far too soon.
Brave until the end, Marc looked death in the eye, fearlessly choosing death over a quality of life that was not up to his standards of excellence.
Even after the cancer, Marc was steadfast in pursuing his passions. He continued playing tennis at Ocean Park tennis courts, skateboarding on the Venice Boardwalk with his rescue dogs in tow, and creating dinner dance parties as he spun vinyl records into the night. He was a family man to the core who loved an ice-shaken cocktail, backgammon, and tomato beef chow mein.
Marc lived by this motto: Regret what you have done, not what you have not.
He is survived by his wife (Jaclyn), daughter (Parker), father (Wayne), mother (Carole), sister (Lindsay), and dogs (Masa and Chuy).
Music was a constant throughout Marc's life. You can follow his curated playlists on Spotify under the username inthisgreatfuture (specifically " MontenegroDivingClub ").
A Celebration of Life will be held Labor Day Weekend in Mill Valley, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Marc's name to Amigos de las Americas.
Lastly, Marc would like to remind you of the phrase "Memento Mori" – or, remember your mortality. So live life now.
