Marc Zeidler Obituary

November 21, 1953 - August 22, 2021 Marc Steven Zeidler, a kind man who was one of a kind, has died suddenly at 67, to the shock and distress of scores of family and friends. He did make the most of every minute he had, and sought to bring to everyone the joie de vivre he felt. He did everything with enthusiasm, and, boy, he did everything: haberdasher (Zeidler and Zeidler), restaurateur (Broadway Deli, Capo), winemaker (GeekZ), real estate investor, gourmet (past president, Wine & Food Society of Hollywood), wine connoisseur (including judging at the L.A. County Fair International Wine Competition), world traveler, theatregoer, Clippers season ticket holder, champion fantasy basketball owner, cook, consummate host, collector, reader, sharp dresser (he would give you the shirt off his back, and it would be way cooler than your shirt, but not as cool as his shoes!). Born in Los Angeles to Marvin and Judy (Tannes) Zeidler on November 21, 1953, he had a childhood he wouldn't trade for anything, growing up in the rustic paradise of Topanga Canyon with four siblings and a ranch full of animals. When he wed Amy Tidus in 2006, their marriage became a template for happy enduring romance. He loved his nephews and nieces like they were his own kids, and he was so generous, fun-loving, and creative in his relationships with them. He was blessed with many, many friends and they were blessed right back. He was devoted to the well-being of his parents, and anyone he cared for, and when he cared, he cared fiercely, but tenderly. His beautiful, sensitive, joyful spirit will have to live on among us, because the hole he leaves in our lives can never be filled. May his memory forever be for a blessing. Marc was predeceased by Amy's brother Jeff Tidus (Sheryl). He is survived by his parents, Judy and Marvin Zeidler; his beloved wife, Amy; siblings Susan Zeidler (Leo Frishberg), Kathy Mezzonatto (Steve); Paul Zeidler (Amber); and the Honorable D. Zeke Zeidler (Jay Kohorn); Amy's brother Michael Tidus (Carrie); nephews/nieces Aaron Holland (Amanda); Normandie, Giamaica (T. Steven Bullock), Zane (Leah Ordaz), and Quest Zeidler; Ariella and Melina Frishberg; Ilana Tidus; Kaela, Noah, and Hannah Tidus; grand-nieces Ava and Amy Holland, Avery Zeidler-Shehab, and Destry Zeidler-Bullock; and countless other family and friends. Memorial service will be at noon on Wednesday, August 25, at Mount Sinai, Hollywood Hills. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marc's memory may be made to the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 No. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, 90049.

It's been 3 years since the passing of my best friend of more than 50 years. I miss him everyday still. The hole in my heart hasn't healed and I am not sure it ever will. We talked nearly every day and traveled the world together with our wives. We ate endless incredible meals and drank the finest wines all with his incredible knowledge of both. Life is too short.

I still remember his halting Santa laugh even though I can't remember specific conversations, but standing on the corner eating Langers with him when he would shoot me a random text spontaneously out of the blue. Or getting a call from him after posting an image of wine dinner and having him say, "I have another vintage of what you had last night, what are you doing for dinner tonight?" Just spontaneity, smiles, laughter and good emotions every time I think of him.

Grew up w the Zeidlers in Topanga. Lots of love all around. I do remember Marc always having a smile on his face and some pep in his step.

Way too soon to go. My heart goes out to the family.
