Margaret Sitton Obituary
August 28, 1923 - June 28, 2010
Marge Sitton passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Serenity House Hospice Home in Tucson, Arizona. Born in Lorain, Ohio on August 28, 1923 to Sophia and Andrew Pasternak, she was the last surviving sibling of eight brothers and sisters. She moved to Los Angeles after high school where she would meet her husband, Herschel V Sitton. They were married for 40 years until his death in July of 1988. Together they managed a successful restaurant business on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood until they built Sitton's Restaurant in North Hollywood in 1960. Sitton's Restaurant was a legendary eatery to Hollywood stars and local families alike. Both Hersh and Marge were extremely active in the Los Feliz Lions and Lionette's Club for over thirty years.
Marge moved to Tucson in 1994 to be close to her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Margie Sitton Handel of San Diego, her son William David Sitton and two granddaughters, Olivia and Elizabeth Blakeney of Tucson. Everyone in Tucson affectionately called her "Babka."
Funeral services to celebrate her extraordinary life will be held in Tucson and in North Hollywood. On Tuesday, July 6, 2010 visitation will begin at 6pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 215 So. Craycroft Road. A funeral mass will follow on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11am at the same church. On Friday, July 9, 2010 a memorial service will be held at 12Noon at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles followed by burial next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers her family wishes that donations be sent to the University of Arizona Cancer Center. Checks should be made out to UAF - Arizona Cancer Center to the attention of the Sitton Backer Endowment at 1515 No. Campbell Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85724 attn: Sabrina Gonzalez.

Dear Dave and Family,
It has been many years since St Charles grammar school, Sunday breakfast at Sitton's and Margie's able assistance to a chubby 12 year-old (me) at Rathbun's, but my memories are strong and very fond. I extend my condolences to you, Dave, and to your entire family on the loss of the matriarch of a wonderful family.

As a boy I lived a couple houses south of Herschel and Margaret Sitton’s family home on our neighborhood block in Los Feliz. On sweet summer evenings so long ago the Sitton kids, my old friends Margie and David, joined with me in playing on the sidewalks of our block, along with other neighbors Jerry, Pamela, Diane, Wilson and Robbie. All were friendly kids. We endlessly raced or roller skated up and down our New Hampshire Avenue and played other childhood games. I remember Margie and David’s kindly mother Margaret keeping an unobtrusive but watchful eye over all the neighbor kids from the small front porch of the Sitton home as we played till late in the evenings, until it was time to come in for the night. I moved away from our New Hampshire Avenue block as a teenager and never saw these neighbor friends ever again, but I well-remember those simple, peaceful times. I was sorry to learn of mother Margaret’s passing and feel sad for my old friends Margie and David. Be at peace.

I did not Know Margaret Ann Sitton, but if she or a relative was the owner of an "coffee shope" in North Hollywood, CA I spend many an hur there eating and visiting with friends. Moved to Tucson in '65 so was not long a patron. Grat food and a freindly place!
My condolences to the family one way or the other.
