Marjorie Denker Obituary

April 23, 1932 - December 22, 2025 Dr. Marjorie S. Denker passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 93 from natural causes. She lived each day to its fullest, until the last.
Marjorie Nina Saffran Denker was born and raised in CT. She attended UConn, and after working in public relations in NYC, traveled to Europe embracing new adventures and cultures.
She married Morton S. Denker and started a family in New York, moving to California with two toddlers in tow and plans for a third. Morton was her beloved husband for 61 years.
Marjorie was an educator by profession, a life-long learner, a Coro Women's Fellow, a Pepperdine University doctoral program and CSUN master's program alumna. Marj and Morton were members of Temple Judea for over 60 years. Late in life Marj was a founder of TJ Village, a program that provides companionship and shared interests to a vibrant community of mature adults. However, one of the experiences Marj was most proud of early on was involvement in the School Integration Task Force of the San Fernando Valley.
Marjorie was predeceased by her sister, Anita S. Gutterman, and brother, Mortimer Saffran. She is survived by son Mark S. Denker, daughters Loren I. Denker and Sheryl P. Denker, eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Donations in memory of Marjorie S. Denker may be made to HAIS or Temple Judea TJ Village.
