Mark Bader Obituary

Bader, Mark(75)
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, Holocaust survivor, veteran, died from lung cancer Saturday, May 11, 2002, after a valiant fight for his life. He was born in Auschwitz, Poland in 1927. He survived five concentration camps from 1940 - 1945, including two death marches. He was liberated from Dachau on April 29, 1945. He came to America in 1949 and was drafted months later. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and loved the United States. In 1956 he married his soul mate, Rhona, and together they raised four beautiful children. Mark woke up everyday with a smile on his face, ready to go to the office at Shapell Industries where he worked for 44 years. He was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He was proud of his accomplishments yet had great humility and never needed credit for his hard work. He was a man of integrity and compassion, loved by all. He was a true gentleman. He is survived by his wife, Rhona Bader; his children, Rochelle Goodman, Debby Bader, Tama and Tim Freund, David Bader; his grandchildren, Andrea and Joshua Goodman, Hannah and Adam Freund, Daniel Bader; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Fela and David Shapell, Regina and Leo Honigstein; his sister-in-law Ida Bader; his mother-in-law Mollie Greenwald; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alan and Gerry Fidler, and his many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National M.S. Society and Weizmann Institute of Science. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Sinai, May 14, at 2 PM.

He was my dad and I loved him. I'll miss his counsel, and his willingness, and patience, to listen to what I thought, even though, I was just "Whistling Dixie".
