Martin Siegel Obituary

Siegel, Martin J April 2, 1923 - April 26, 2012 Professor Martin J. Siegel died peacefully at home on April 26th at 89. He was the loving husband of Sue, devoted father of Jason and Daniel (Alice Davis and Caroline Welch) and adoring grandfather of Alexander, Jamie and Madeleine. Marty was a talented artist as well as a knowledgeable collector of fine art. His energetic and engaging personality will be sorely missed, as will his loving devotion to his family. We are grateful for the many wonderful years we shared together and he will always live on in our memories. Marty was a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California for 35 years, and frequent President of the American Association of University Professors. He was active in his profession as an inventor, patent holder, author of college textbooks and expert witness in patent and personal injury cases. He was well respected by his colleagues and students, whom he often mentored in pursuing their own successful engineering careers.

Marty was a unique personality, always challenging in his opinions and always a pleasure to debate those opinions. We will miss him.
