Mary Carmen Corella

1931 - 2022

May 21, 1931 - August 1, 2022 "Mary Carmen" Corella, 91, died of natural causes Monday August 1, 2022 surrounded by family and friends in her residence at Villa Scalabrini in Sun Valley, CA. Born May 21, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Edwardo and Maria Bustamante. She was the sixth of 6 siblings.

A 1949 graduate from Saint Mary's Academy in Los Angeles, CA, she married Arthur P. Corella on October 21, 1950, in Los Angeles, after which they moved to North Hollywood where they resided for over 61 years raising their children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Mary Carmen was very active in her children's upbringing, continually providing volunteer support for her children's schools and sporting events, as well as participation in her Catholic Church parish groups. She also found time to work for the State of California Employment Development Department, from which she retired.

She enjoyed spending summers with her family and friends on Balboa Island and in her later years on the Crystal Pier in San Diego. She was an avid card and game player, especially playing with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived her daughters Toni Bolman of Tucson, Arizona, and Marta Corella of North Hollywood, California; sons John A. Corella of Beaumont, California, and Joe Corella of West Linn, Oregon; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Carmen is preceded in death by her husband Arthur of 60 years, her parents, her brothers Manuel Bustamante, Edward Bustamante, and Ernest Bustamante, her sisters Lena Leroget and Martha Espinosa, and her daughter Tina Cirelle.

Memorial services will be held in the fall of 2022.
