Mary Frances Hong

1939 - 2017

August 27, 1939 - November 27, 2017 Mary Frances Hong was a devoted and loving joy to her husband, and a delightful, loyal, thoughtful, and great comfort to her family and the many friends who knew her. Born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia, Mary started her career there as a legal secretary. She was accomplished in handling a switchboard and in taking and transcribing shorthand. She retained those skills throughout her lifetime while acquiring the skills to move into the computer age. Mary was the youngest child of William and Teresa McCracken, preceded by her brother William and sister Teresa. To avoid the harsh weather of the East, Mary followed her brother William to Southern California. In addition to her being an accomplished executive and legal secretary, she delighted in entertaining her friends and acquaintances with her keen wit, twinkling green eyes, and skilled cooking. In Los Angeles, Mary met her husband, Nowland, a partner and chairperson of the litigation group of a major Los Angeles law firm. They married on May 19, 1990. Afterwards she became a full-time housewife and a great supporter of her husband in his life and profession, giving him the benefit of her unfailing insight of people and good common sense. She is survived by her husband, Nowland, sister, Teresa Doorley, niece, Michelle Doney, nephews, William and James Doorley, and Sean, Kevin, Brendan, Brian, and, Michael McCracken. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. in the Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California.
