Megan White Obituary

February 4, 1987 - July 21, 2020 Preceded in death by her father, Jack, brother, Keith, and mother, Robin McLean, Megan was just shy of her fifth wedding anniversary. At her side were her husband, Collier, and her devoted friends Carol, Crystal, and Jessica. Megan loved music and she made roughly 33-1/3 rotations around the sun. Her favorite song was "My Girl." In December of 2011, when walking with Collier, Megan announced that Halloween would fall on a Saturday in 2015 and that she intended to be married on that day.Collier replied that he would mark the date and try to attend. Megan knew love's seeds could be bitter, and she knew that these pips contain viable truths. She lost her godparents, Clayton and Jimmy, to AIDS in the 90s, and she never let anyone use the word "gay" disparagingly without hearing from her. She lost her father at age 10, and lost too many friends, too young. Megan cried easily and laughed much more than that, and she weightlessly carried on, eager to tell a story and win a smile. Thus did she gracefully spit the pips of love's sweet fruits on the ground in faith that nature takes care of the rest. Megan's cremains are commingled with the roots of an oak tree in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. A stone that marks her tree also bears wayfinders to Disneyland's Haunted Mansion and a Taco Bell on Lexington and Vine. Megan's Disney princess was Snow White because she so loved animals, especially her dogs. When butterflies visited her, Megan felt her father's presence. In 2018, when her mother could no longer recognize her, Megan moved from Minnesota to California. There, she became ill with a sore throat that proved to be neuroendocrine cancer. Megan did nothing less than save the alienated by righting this world's upside-down tables and making pillow forts. Megan was bisexual and queer and absolutely devoted to love. For those of us lucky enough to know her, she stands for joy and love and truth given freely and without malice. Some of Megan's salts and bone are still above ground, in a metal heart, in a glass apple, around the necks of friends, in the silence of a puppy's yawn, the stars you can't see but know are there, and the glitter of gold that can't stay.

To anyone who knew Megan, I happened to stumble upon her beautiful grave in the Hollywood Forever cemetery the other day, and shared it with my audience (I'm a location scout, and regularly post about what I happen to come across in my travels).

There was an immense outpouring of comments about how inspiring and moved they were by her life and her final resting place. I think to date, well over 30,000 people have read and been sharing her story.

I just wanted to share this to show how even in death, she still has proven quite a powerful force to people who never met her. I had posted twice to each, once about her grave, and then a follow-up when so many wrote to share her obituary and other information with me.

I don't think Legacy allows links, but you can find those easily enough on Twitter (@scoutwithnick), Instagram (nick.carr.scout.stories) or Facebook (scoutingwithnick).

This is only meant to share this information with those would appreciate knowing. Please please please remove if it's in any way offensive or inappropriate.

I´d give my sympathy, but I feel it´s the rest of us who have lost, not to have known her. Godspeed, sweet soul

A person on Instagram posted a picture of the grave as he was scouting and he was uplifted so I searched and found this oasis, so beautifully expressed.

I saw your grave online and it led me to this page. You sound like a wonderful person and a great loss to the world. May your memory be a blessing.
