Menasche Nass Obituary

November 21, 1949 - October 28, 2023 Menasche Melvin Nass, beloved father and grandfather, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Santa Monica at age 73. Menasche was born in Munich, Germany, in a displaced persons camp following the Holocaust. At the age of one, he and his parents immigrated to New York City, where he was raised. His mother, Rachel, passed away when he was 14 years old, and his father, Abraham, passed away when Menasche was in his early 20s. He was a brilliant and determined man. After attending Yeshiva as a child, he received his B.S., summa cum laude, from The Cooper Union in 1970, his Ph.D. in Physics from Brown University in 1975, was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech from 1977-1979, and received a J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1982. Following law school, Menasche went to work as a tax attorney at DeCastro West, where he eventually became a partner and spent the majority of his career. He was still a practicing lawyer at the time of his death, and greatly enjoyed his role as a legal adviser to his clients. Menasche was a devoted husband until the passing of his beloved wife, Carol Beth Sherman, on March 1, 2015. Menasche loved spending time with his family above all else, and was the most loving and supportive father to his daughters, their spouses, and his three grandchildren. Menasche lived life to the fullest and enjoyed golf, swim, travel, fine dining, and following current and political events. He was an active and vibrant individual. Menasche is survived by his daughters Rachel Nass and her husband Michael Reeves, Alanna Nass and her husband Eric Graffeo, and his grandchildren Caroline, Samantha and Asher Reeves.

Menasche was one of my best friends for over 35+ years. We shared our friendship, our families growing up, our enjoyment of many trips together, as well as celebrating many of life´s joy´s. Menasche will be missed by the many people he helped during his successful legal career, his membership at Brentwood Country Club, his support of the Hollywood Bowl, LA Rams season ticket holder, his joy of golf and his big heart towards everyone he met! We will always love Menasche, his wife Carol and know they are up in Heaven dancing together at this time! Rest in Peace my friend!

I was out of town when I learned that you had passed away Menasche, other wise I would have honored you by attending your funeral. I was devastated to see the email about your passing. This was so unexpected. I am so sorry for you Menasche, and for your whole family. It was always nice to run into you and talk to you in the Tavern / Grill Room at Brentwood. May God bless you for all eternity, and protect you and your family forever.

Menasche was a caring and a loving man - a supportive partner, an extremely intelligent and intuitive human being. With a big open heart full of love, willingness to help and to support. He is missed tremendously.
