Michael Hirsch Obituary

August 27, 1938 - January 23, 2024 Mike Hirsch passed surrounded by his loving family: his wife of 63 years, Joan; son David and daughter-in-law Claudia of Greenwich, CT; son James and daughter-in-law Pamela of Encino; and grandchildren Kate and Grant, Ashley and Melanie. He also leaves behind his sister, Corinne "Corky" London. Preceded in death by cherished parents Charlotte and Henry, and brother Steven. Graduated of Syracuse University (BBA, '60). Mike was a third-generation metal door manufacturer. He purchased a fledgling Security Metal Products Corporation in 1981, and soon it became a leading supplier of hollow metal doors and frames. Notable projects included the Crypto Arena, The Pentagon, the new LAX International Terminal, and The Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, one of the world's tallest buildings. After retiring as its Chairman & CEO in 2010, he spent his days golfing and relaxing with friends and family. He was a member of both the Brentwood and Tamarisk Country Clubs. Mike was charming, entertaining, spirited and forthright. As a dad, he successfully nurtured and mentored his sons, and in his favorite role as "Poppy" to his grandkids, he was engaging and loving. Service will be held Sunday, January 28, 9 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice in his name.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Looking back over the years, Mike influenced my life more than I realized at the time. I am very grateful for that. We are sorry for your loss. Steve & Nina
