Mildred Baker Obituary

August 24, 1927 - January 3, 2021 A southern belle from Memphis, Tennessee transplanted to southern California, Millie Baker will be remembered for her zest for life, welcoming of everyone that crossed her path, and generous spirit. The life of every party and the ultimate hostess, Millie relished the company of others and exuded warmth and inclusivity. A wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend, and confidant, Millie leaves behind a treasured family and numerous dear friends. A woman ahead of her time, Millie was instrumental in the success of the Broker of Venice real estate company, planned dozens of international travel adventures, and was a committed volunteer and philanthropist. She connected to her Jewish heritage through Mishkon Tephilo, BBG, B'nai B'rith, and Sinai Temple and was an active leader in community-based organizations including Boys & Girls Club of Venice and Del Rey Yacht Club. Millie Baker is survived by her son, Norman, son-in-law, Mark Kaplan, and her grandchildren, Lindsey and Josh. Millie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Joey, and her daughter, Jan, and son, Don. She had devoted caregivers, including Connie and Moses, for whom the family is extremely grateful. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to your local food bank or a nonprofit that honors Millie's memory.
