I am saddened to see Principal Ichinaga's passing. I am honored to be one of the many she mentored. As I navigated my way serving as Inglewood Council of PTAs President she was a staunch defender of Parents, Students, and Teachers. She was straight as an arrow that operating in excellence is the only way to achieve in education and life. I will always treasure her passion. May your family find joy and comfort knowing she inspired all who knew her.

Nancy was the principal at Bennett-Kew when I first met her. She was the principal for my son's Dwayne and Derrick Hayes. She was an awesome, caring person who worked hard to make sure all the children had the best elementary education. She was a great influence in their lives as well as teachers and other principals. Love and compassion as we salute Nancy Ichinaga.we

Nancy Inchinaga was Principal during my time at Andrew Bennett Elementary School from 1979-1983. At that time, Andrew Bennet and James Kew Elementary schools had not yet combined to form one school. I recall Mrs. Inchinaga firm but fair, kind, and consistent I respected and trusted her. As a testament to the impression she made, I do not recall the names of my principals at James Kew Elementary School, James Monroe Junior High School, or Morningside High School; but, I remember Mrs. Inchinaga!
Today, I am a jet pilot and active duty Colonel in the U. S. Marine Corps. I’m a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and I have a Masters degree from one of Marine Corps University’s most discriminating and prestigious colleges, the School of Advanced Warfighting. I’m published in one book and several professional journals. I have achieved everything I’ve always dreamed of and more; my tenure at Andrew Bennett under Mrs. Inchinaga’s leadership was foundational and cannot be divorced from my success.
I regret that I did not find an opportunity to express my gratitude to Mrs. Inchinaga earlier. But, I offer my most heartfelt condolences to her family as I, too, am feeling this loss.
Warmest Regards,

Nancy Ichinaga was a great woman, who achieved so much as a model principal, served as a stellar member of the State Board of Education, and was admired by presidents, governors, colleagues, teachers, students and all who were touched by her. She raised a wonderful family, including my friend Jon, and left a legacy for many generations to come.
