Neanette Quint Obituary

October 22, 1915 - September 25, 2016 Born in Chicago, the third of four children of Ben and Sophie Pokras. Her happy childhood was spent there surrounded by her close family. Her siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. Nena married Tabby Stone in 1939. Together they had two children, Starr and Howard Stone. She was widowed in 1945 and moved to Los Angeles to follow her parents and sister Lil and her family, who had moved west after the war. In 1950, Nena met and married Harry Quint, the widowed father of Jerry and George Quint. The two families became one and Nena and Harry lived a long and happy life together until his death in 1995. Together, they owned and operated two pharmacies, first in Sherman Oaks and later in Hollywood. They worked very hard until their retirement and then enjoyed traveling with friends, cousins and siblings, to all parts of the world. Nena was the beloved mother to Starr, George, (Janine), Howard, (Cathy), and Jerry, deceased, (Diana). She was a grandmother to nine grandchildren and great-grandmother to twenty great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. In addition to her involvement with her large family, Nena enjoyed traveling until late in her nineties, playing bridge, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She was open to new ideas, had a keen mind, and a great sense of independence and was totally self-sufficient for over 100 years. Truly a remarkable woman. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, Nena was a supporter of the Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee and any donation to either organization in her name would be a meaningful tribute to her.
